After the news that The Village Inn would be moving home in Birmingham’s Gay Village, was announced in September 2024, the “worst kept secret in Brum history” has been officially announced on social media; three iconic LGBTQ+ venues will be available in one new home later this year.
The three venues – The Loft Bar & Kitchen, The Village Inn, and The Nightingale Club – will all be housed in a “new purpose-built night-time entertainment complex at the site of the Nightingale Club” at 18 Kent Street, Birmingham.

The Village Inn’s current site will close its doors on Sunday 30th March, and re-open within the Nightingale on Thursday 3rd April.
After 14 years, the Loft Bar & Kitchen will leave its current location on Bromsgrove Street and re-open in its new home on Kent Street on Friday 16th May.
While The Nightingale Club itself – Birmingham’s oldest LGBTQ+ venue which first opened in 1967 on Camp Hill before later moving to Thorp Street and then to Kent Street in 1999 – will continue to run in its current home; occupying the middle and top floors.
“Work is well underway on the site and we promise you it’s going to be amazing,” explains the social media post, “We can’t wait to welcome you to a new era in Brum.”
