Solihull will be holding its first Pride event in 2025, with an event organised by Solihull Business Improvement District (BID). Due to take place on Saturday 6th September, Solihull Pride promises to be a “spectacular day of inclusivity, joy, and unity for people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities” that aims to bring “a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and diversity to the town centre,” explains Solihull BID.

The one-day event – hosted by Phil Oldershaw – will offer a colourful programme of events and activities, including a pride parade, live music performances including musical tributes to Madonna, Cher and Elton John, and special guests including award-winning cabaret artist, Fatt Butcher with their Big Fatt Dance Party alongside Alanna Boden and Blü Romantic, and celebrity hairdressers Royston Blythe and Nick Malenko, as featured on the Real Housewives of Cheshire.

Melanie Palmer, Chief Executive of Solihull BID, said: “We are absolutely delighted to host the first-ever Solihull Pride event right here in the heart of our town centre. This celebration is a vibrant reflection of Solihull’s diversity, inclusivity, and community spirit.

“It will be wonderful to see people from all walks of life coming together to share in the joy, pride, and unity that this event represents.”

Solihull Pride has been made possible thanks to support from sponsors including Headline Sponsor npower Business Solutions (nBS) and Associate Sponsors: BNP Paribas Personal FinanceCGI, Solihull College & University Centre, and Touchwood.

Anthony Ainsworth, Chief Operating Officer (COO), nBS, added: “We are delighted to be Headline Sponsor of Solihull’s inaugural Pride event which is taking place right on our doorstep.

“At nBS, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment, ensuring everyone is comfortable being their authentic selves, so it is very important to us to raise awareness and celebrate Pride within the local community. We are certain the event will be a great success, and one that truly champions equality for all.”

The ‘Love is Love’ event is completely free to attend and kicks off at 10.30am on the Main Stage in Mell Square, followed swiftly by the parade at 11am. The community event will then continue in Mell Square until 5pm. For full details, head to the Solihull BID website.
