After months of work creating their new space, Eden Bar, Birmingham will re-open in its new home at the beginning of March. On Saturday 1st March, the newly transformed Eden will celebrate their launch night at 138 Gooch Street, Birmingham with an evening of entertainment.
“Whether you’re a loyal supporter or a first-time visitor, everyone is welcome to celebrate the next chapter at this exciting new venue,” writes the Eden team on social media.
Gooch Street will mark Eden’s third home. The LGBTQ+ bar began in 2008 on the corner of Sherlock Street and Hurst Street, in the renovated former White Swan, before moving to a venue on Holloway Circus – the former Jester Club, not far from the LGBT Centre – where it ran for two years. Now, it will re-open on the corner of Gooch and Sherlock Street, not far from its original home.
This new, ‘bigger and better’ venue was a vacant site, a former Barclays Bank premises, and once home to 4DU; the Midland’s Biggest DJ Store. It reportedly boasts a ‘sun-trap courtyard garden’, a veranda and an ‘entertainment area’.
In a statement issued by Eden owners, Garry Prentice and Cal Eden, they explained: “Since coming back to Birmingham, we have been on the search for a bigger and better venue. For our new venue, we always wanted something closer to our old home on Sherlock Street, with its size and layout!”
Following the bar’s grand opening, Eden will be back in full swing with a line-up of exciting events including House of Allure’s ‘A Night at the Movies’, and Drag Idol heats.
