You Betta Merch has announced that in loving memory of The Vivienne – who sadly passed away earlier this month – they will be donating the proceeds from her merchandise sales to Sahir House, a cause close to her heart. The Vivienne, also known to many as James Lee Williams was a champion for Sahir House; Liverpool City Region's largest and oldest LGBTQ+ charity working with LGBTQ+ people, and those living with and/or affected by HIV.

In an article remembering them, Sahir House wrote: “James repeatedly named Sahir as his chosen charity during his high-profile TV appearances... At every opportunity, he used his platform to shine a light on the importance of our work, helping us reach audiences we could never have imagined.

James’ support for Sahir wasn’t performative – it was personal. He understood the importance of creating spaces where people could live authentically, access the support they need, and feel celebrated for who they are. His commitment to our mission spoke volumes about his character: warm, generous, and deeply empathetic.”

Birmingham-registered business, You Betta Merch – which was created by queer artists for queer artists – will continue to make The Vivienne’s merchandise available for purchase (until further notice), allowing fans “the chance to cherish a piece of her spirit”. In honour of her incredible legacy, all proceeds from these sales will be donated to Sahir House, with an initial donation of £1,075.16 already made following a flurry of orders after the news of her death broke.

Speaking to Midlands Rainbow, Izzy and Elliot from You Betta Merch said: “The news of The Vivienne’s passing was deeply upsetting and has been felt by a huge amount of people who will miss the light and joy she brought to the world, including ourselves. We had the pleasure of getting to work with Viv to help bring merch to her adoring fans. She was always enthusiastic and championed small queer-owned businesses that helped make drag more accessible, such as ourselves. Following the news of her passing we didn’t feel removing her merch from sale would be right as now her fans are able to get a piece of clothing to remember her by and cherish.

“We made contact with her management who advised us that she was a huge supporter of Sahir House, a Liverpool-based charity focussed on helping LGBTQ+ people and so all of the profit from her sales has been, and will continue to be donated to this amazing cause, in her honour.

“Our thoughts continue to go out to The Vivienne’s family, friends, fans and loved ones. Rest in power, our Queen.”
