Following pressure from university societies, Warwick University have dropped their “performative” Pride event. Warwick Trans Society alongside many others on campus objected to the university holding a Pride event after the institution suspended its ‘Trans Inclusion Policy’. In light of this news, the alternatively organised 'Pride is a Protest' event has been re-scheduled to Wednesday 11th June from 1pm in the Piazza.

In a joint statement from Warwick Trans Action, Warwick Trans Society, Warwick PLAN society, Warwick Pride, and Qulture Warwick explains: “We have successfully pressure Warwick University into dropping its performative "Pride" event. The University still refuses to ensure any protections for trans people on campus, with their trans inclusivity policy remaining suspended.
“They refuse to provide any clarity on their position or intentions, causing significant anxiety and harm to all trans people associated with the University.
They add that the Pride is Protest event will go ahead on the new date, stating: "We will protest the University's complicity with trans genocide, and celebrate queerness with a variety of performances from local community queer artists. Join us in building power and community in our shared identities, struggles, and joy."
