The East To West LGBTQUIA+ Cinema Season starts on Valentine's Day (Friday 14th February) with Heiner Carow’s 1990s classic, Beautiful Thing (cert 15). The movie from Hettie MacDonald is a romantic London-based story of two teenagers falling in love, to the soundtrack of Mama Cass.

On Friday 21st February 2025, Warwick Arts Centre will show Coming Out (cert 15); a film which follows an East German teacher who begins to question his sexuality after a reunion with a childhood friend. Then on Friday 28th February, audiences can watch the landmark Marble Ass (cert 18), directed by Želimir Žilnik, which tells the story of a trans sex worker in mid-90s Belgrade. Both these films have won Teddy Awards at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Finally, on Monday 3rd March, wrapping up the Cinema Season is the film LaylaAmrou Al-Kadhi’s striking debut feature which follows the story of a struggling Arab drag queen whose confident façade hides their desperate desire for love. This event will also feature writer and director Amrou, in discussion with Warwick Arts Centre Associate Artist Adam Carver (aka Fatt Butcher). Tickets to all screenings are available to book now
