Notts Pride, the East Midlands’ largest free Pride event, are hosting a Winter Ball which aims to ensure that they can continue bringing pride to the city for everyone to enjoy for free. The winter ball will be held on Friday 28th February 2025 in celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month, and the category is ‘Big Gay Disco’. “There is no such thing as underdressed - pull out the rainbows, the sequins, the suits and the glam!” Notts Pride declares.
Adding: “We have chosen Friday 28th February for our Ball to align with LGBT+ History Month, and so that we may create an evening of love, joy and community when we are so dearly missing the warmth of Summer and spending Pride together.”
The event will be held at The Palais which is also celebrating its centenary this year. Attendees are invited to join drag hosts: Marilyn Sane (she/her) – ‘the wicked witch of the East Midlands’; Nana Arthole (she/it) – ‘artist, entertainer & arthole’; and Liv (they/she) – ‘the hairiest woman in showbiz’, as well as a line-up of go-go dancers, and party the night away to the best in disco, dance, pop and diva anthems, played by DJ BOZ (Gladrags resident DJ and Curator).

A spokesperson said: “We will be dancing under the mirror balls and bringing all the sequins and the sparkle to the Palais, which celebrates its 100-year anniversary of opening this year – we’re very excited to add to that history with quite possibly Nottingham’s biggest gay disco ever!
“A DJ will be playing ’80s, house, pop and diva anthems whilst go-go dancers, pole performers and drag queen hosts will keep the party going all night long. There may also be an appearance from a star of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series six… more on that later.”
Liv, Notts Pride’s mainstage coordinator and drag queen host, adds: “It’s important that people show their support at events like this so we can keep bringing Pride to the city each year – and the gays know how to throw one hell of an event so come one, come all and join the party.”
Tickets cost just £10.00 (General Admission), or for those who can afford to for £25.00 you can contribute a ‘Spirit of Pride donation’ on top of the general admission price to further support Notts Pride.
Nottinghamshire Pride itself will take place in the summer, on Saturday 26th July.
