A major exhibition of work from pop art icon, Andy Warhol, is coming Wolverhampton Art Gallery from May 2026. Andy Warhol: Art Star is an ARTIST ROOMS exhibition in partnership with Tate and National Galleries of Scotland which collates works from Warhol including pieces that are rarely shown on public display. The exhibition previously showed at Nottingham’s Lakeside Arts Gallery.

Ceri Lewis, senior curator at Artist Rooms, said: "For conservation purposes those works are quite fragile, so they aren't shown that often. You may think you know Warhol. Come see the show. You may not know Warhol, come see the show."
In an outline of the exhibition, Wolverhampton Art Gallery said Warhol was “A leading figure in the Pop Art movement, he reimagined what art could be at a time of great social, political and technological change. Warhol’s fascination with fame, celebrity and commercial culture produced some of the most recognisable images in 20th century art.”
Showcasing pieces from one of the most influential American artists, the exhibition includes both iconic, well-known works such as 'Campbell's Soup' as well as lesser-known drawings, screenprints, painting and photographs from the 1950s-1980s. Visitors will be images of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, as well as pieces exploring American consumerism.
Councillor Chris Burden said, "Hosting an exhibition by world-renowned artist Andy Warhol here in our city is a testament to Wolverhampton's growing reputation as a cultural destination, and I encourage everyone - especially our young people, who can visit free of charge - to come and be inspired by the strength and spirit of Warhol's work."
Andy Warhol: Art Star exhibits at Wolverhampton Art Gallery from Saturday 23rd May until Sunday 4th October 2026. Under 21s go free. Adult tickets cost £9, with concessions and discounts offered for Students, Universal/Pension credit holders, Art Fund pass holders, and Friend of Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
