The New Art Gallery Walsall has announced that Coventry-based, trans artist, ANDI has been selected as the recipient of the Clive Beardsmore Artist Award, and will be joining the gallery in residence next year. The award, named after and supported by Birmingham-based collector, Clive Beardsmore – who donated 200 works of British art to The New Art Gallery Walsall in 2014 – was whittled down from nearly forty submissions to be awarded to one artist, ANDI.

ANDI (She/Her) is a trans, queer artist who creates oil paintings "that document and reflect on queer and trans experiences". She will be in residence at The New Art Gallery Walsall from 13th January – 5th April 2025 during which time, she will work in the Gallery’s purpose-built Artists’ Studio developing new paintings; working at a larger scale for the first time. The residency will be supported by a 12-month programme of creative coaching delivered by Ceri Hand, an Arts and Business coach to extraordinary creatives across the globe.
Reacting to the news, ANDI said: “I can’t express how excited I am to be doing this residency!”
