The Village Inn, one of Birmingham’s oldest LGBTQ+ venues, which is currently located at 152 Hurst Street on the corner of Skinner Lane, has announced plans to move location. The venue will be moving to a new cabaret space in the heart of Birmingham where it will continue to deliver everything you already love about The Village Inn – including drag performances and your favourite DJs and hostesses – alongside brand-new, state-of-the-art staging, sound and lighting, and a fully-heated outdoor space.

While the location of the new Village Inn has yet to be revealed, it has been reported that the space will be wheelchair accessible. The current venue on Hurst Street is partially accessible, however, not all areas of the space are accessible.
There has reportedly been a public house at the corner of Hurst Street and Skinner Lane since the early 19th century, and according to one BirminghamHistory.co.uk user, the venue (under previous names/ownership) has long been an LGBTQ+ safe space, even dating back to the late 50s and early 60s when it was quietly used as a meeting space for the community. It is unsurprising, therefore, that there are mixed feelings of sadness and excitement for the news but The Village Inn’s new home will be unveiled in early 2025, and until then, it’s business as usual at The Village Inn on Hurst Street.
