Fatt Butcher’s Congregational goes on sale in Birmingham

Congregational, a newly-composed choral service for the nightclub, from artist and vocalist, Fatt Butcher, is heading on tour across England. Opening in Manchester, the tour will then visit various venues across the nation including: Brighton, Liverpool, and Coventry, before completing its run in Fatt’s home city, Birmingham. Tickets for the live performance at Birmingham’s Town Hall on Saturday 20^th February 2027 are now on sale.

Congregational comes in Birmingham in 2027

First showcased as a ‘work-in-progress’ piece for Birmingham’s Fierce Festival, Congregational is an avant-garde musical responding to the cloure of queer nightlife and the loss of the culture held within those venues and safe spaces. Transforming theatres, music venues and festivals into nightclubs through ritual, song and collective joy, Congreational is the glorious act of resurrection; “A Requiem for dying nightlife,” explains Cabaret performer and director of Fatt Projects, Adam Carver AKA Fatt Butcher.

Created by Fatt Butcher in collaboration with singer-songwriter, composer and performer, Nicky Harris, and sound tech DJ and music producer Tobre, Congregational is performed with a live choir of professional queer vocalists, virtuosic piano, live DJing from Brum’s own Soriah, and ‘otherworldly’ visuals from videographer, Katie Price.

“The bars are closing, the village is dying, we’re tired and scared, but the beat of the dance floor’s heart keeps on pumping,” reads the outline for the production.

“Part concert, part-communion, part-resurrection, the show is a ceremony for the dancefloor; a service to dying nightlife that reminds us to keep on living.”

Expect “thumping original score of newly composed hymns for the dancefloor blending house, trance, gospel, classical and experimental music.”

Birmingham is set to be an extra special performance, returning to where it all began with live organ, keys, DJ, and over 70 singers including the Congregational Choir and the Full Fatt Sound Choir.

Fatt Butcher describes Congregational as “the biggest show of my life”, featuring “75 minutes of original music. A funeral for the village, a revival for the soul.”
