West Northamptonshire Council claim to still support Pride, despite being one of the many, now Reform-led councils that have banned Pride flags (along with many other flags) from being flown outside their council buildings.

Pride Flag

The newly-elected Reform UK administration on West Northamptonshire Council made changes to its flag protocol, in line with the party’s protocols, after taking control of the council last month.

Their new protocol dictates that only the union jack, St George's flag and council flag will be flown outside its buildings. The council also said that additional flags would be flown on specified dates for royal or national occasions. These include plans reportedly include an Armed Forces flag during Armed Forces Week (23rd – 29th June).

Despite flying a Pride flag outside the council building in previous years for Pride month, no Pride flag will be allowed to fly outside West Northamptonshire Council this year due to the new leadership.

The Reform-controlled local authority said it would continue “to give its backing to a busy and varied local community events calendar for the year ahead", reportedly providing resource and support to community organisers for events including Pride, Windrush, Diwali and others.
