Birmingham AIDS and HIV Memorial team and the charity Saving Lives invite the community to join them on World AIDS Day for an event of remembrance, reflection and celebration.
The event will be held from 6pm on Sunday 1st December 2024 at the AIDS and HIV memorial ribbons sculpture in Hippodrome Square. There will be guest speakers, a performance from the Rainbow Voices Choir, a vigil, and wreathes will be laid on the memorial.

World AIDS Day is observed annually, and its aims are to remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses, to raise awareness about HIV, and to unite in the fight against HIV transmission and breaking down the stigma associated with the virus. In 2024, the theme for World AIDS Day is 'Collective Action: Sustain and Accelerate HIV Progress', which is in keeping with the current goal to end HIV transmission in the UK by 2030. Those living with HIV who are on effective antiretroviral treatment can live healthy, normal lives, and won't pass it on once their levels become undectable (U=U). It is, however, possible to be living with the virus and be unaware, so testing is vital. Find out more with The Terrence Higgins Trust.
