Wolverhampton LGBT+, along with Wolverhampton Council and The Methodist Church are hosting a memorial event to commemorate World AIDS Day on Sunday 1st December 2024. The event begins with a memorial walk which invites attendees to pay their respects to those lives lost in the HIV/AIDs pandemic, and will close with a vigil.

The walk will begin at 2pm on 1st December by the bandstand in Wolverhampton’s West Park (Park Road), and it will end at the AIDs Memorial tree, which was planted in the 1980s, during the height of the AIDs pandemic. Here, a vigil will be held by Deacon Linda Gilson of The Methodist Church.
The event is free to attend, however, attendees can reserve their space via Eventbrite.
“This memorial service is to symbolise solidarity, remembrance, and to foster a safe and supportive space for those affected by this disease and the stigma still attached to it.”
