Art Thou Ok Bab's 'Project +1 Positively Me' in partnership with Saving Lives Charity are presenting a World AIDS Day Flash Mob in Birmingham this year, as part of activities marking the designated day that aims to raise awareness of the stigma still connected to HIV and to remember those lost during the AIDS pandemic. The dance performance will take place on World AIDS Day, Monday 1st December, in Birmingham from 6.30pm.

The vibrant community flash mob will feature dancers and dance groups from across the Midlands who will be led in workshops by a creative team which includes Jerry Lee (producer for Art Thou Ok Bab), Queer-Side’s Eric Scutaro, and Autin Dance Theatre Creative Director Johnny Autin, with choreographic support from Rajan Das (The Stiletto Prince) and dance artist and educator, Charley Perks.
A call out for dancers has been put out, seeking solo and group submissions. Dancers who are successful in their submission will receive free workshops and rehearsals from industry professional at FABRIC Dance Studio. These workshops will also provide “valuable discussions and opportunity for insight into living with a HIV diagnosis, through dance, discussion and movement,” explains Jerry.
Those interested need to apply by the deadline: midday on Wednesday 22nd October with rehearsals to take place in late October and through November. Further information, including contacts, and how to apply can be found via the Google Form.
