The Full Fatt Sound, a queer choir in Birmingham from Fatt Projects, have announced their first concert date. The city’s newest, contemporary queer choir, conceived by drag performer, vocalist, and director, Fatt Butcher (Adam Carver), will hold their first public concert on Thursday 17th July at the CBSO Centre.

“Expect fresh takes on contemporary anthems, packed with sexy harmonies, big feelings, and good vibes to lift the spirits and get us dancing in troubled times," Fatt Projects' event page says.

“This first programme of music has been themed around the choir’s hopes and fears, and is a first introduction to The Full Fatt Sound Experience. Featuring songs by Minnie Riperton, Agnes, En Vogue, Doechi, and The Full Fatt Sound’s own Ginny Lemon with additional guest performances from choir members.

“The Full Fatt Sound is a new semi-professional queer choir, created by Birmingham based performance company Fatt Projects, with support from CBSO. Formed in 2025 with the aim of bringing together queer singers (and allies) from across Birmingham to have space to sing together and create a beautiful collective sound, the choir has over 40 members ranging from community members to professional musicians, artists, and vocalists from across the midlands.”

The event runs from 7.30-80.30pm. Doors open at 7pm with entertainment from DJ Soriah. Tickets are on sale now from £12.50. Low income tickets costing just £5 are also available. While those able to help support the choir and subsidise the choir’s running costs can opt for a Solidarity ticket or add a donation of their choice on when booking.

“This sliding scale is designed to help make our events accessible to everyone,” explains Fatt Projects.

The Full Fatt Sound choir has been busy rehearsing ahead of their first public concert, and you can watch a series of short videos that showcase just a taster of the glorious vocals that you can expect at the live event.
