Send in the Clowns to return with new show in 2027
Send in the Clowns, a cabaret collective made up of performers: Fatt Butcher, Blü Romantic, Alanna Boden, and Dahliah Rivers, will return in 2027 with a new show. Following the success of ‘Queeny Todd’ in 2026, the Clowns will return to The Rep Birmingham with their latest drag revue, ‘Send in the Clowns - Nancies!: The Great Brit-ish Musical’.
This time, the brilliant chaotic production will take on some of the best British musicals including: My Fair Lady, Oliver!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Billy Elliot, as well as taking on newer musicals like Paddington (everyone’s favourite grim reaper).
For those unfamiliar with Send in the Clowns, their shows are filled with sharp comedy, political commentary, campery, incredible live vocals from some of your favourite and best known musicals, and sing-along audience participation. The first act of the show features a meadley of musical numbers while the second act is a drag recreation/bastardisation of a legendary musical, rehearsed in two days and performed in 20(ish) minutes.
The outline for the upcoming shows explains: ”The Clowns have been reviewing the situation… and realised what’s big right now is flying the flag. And if you know one thing about the Clowns, they’ll do ANYTHING – to sell a show. They have Re-formed (wink wink) to focus on the ‘Best of British’.
“They are ready to muddy their knees on home soil and offer their own hot (pot) takes on musicals: My Fair Theydy, Saddington, Bully Elliott, Sh*tty Sh*tty Bang Bang.. you know the sort. Who will come out on top, as your Nancy supreme?”
Playing at The Door, at The Rep, Birmingham Wednesday 28th April to Saturday 1st May 2027. Tickets are on sale now, and likely to sell out, so don’t miss out.
