A follow-up to their previous show, Queens: The Show with Balls, Drag Me to the Disco does exactly what the title suggests with a playlist of uplifting, and fun disco songs from the likes of Diana Ross, CHIC, The Supremes, Tina Turner, Sylvester, and many more that are perfect to dance to, and this show certainly gives audience members plenty of opportunities to sing and dance along when encouraged to do so by the performers. The hits keep coming with medley after medley from a sparkling array of divas and disco queens, sung by the glittering cast: Bella du Ball, Dior Montay, Candy Caned, Zeze Van Cartier, and Billie Eyelash.

Alongside the disco classics, the show also features plenty of pop hits, a section of dance music DJed by Jase (‘the piano-playing, death-dropping, stage manager and drag queen in the making’), and a section of the show that drags the audience to the movies with songs from some of your favourite films and hilarious re-enactments of popular blockbuster moments including Stars Wars, Jaws, The Full Monty, and more.
Because the whole show is live singing, the queens are able to alter the words of many of the songs to tell a story, add humour or ad-lib. During Madonna's Vogue, the late Lily Savage is given a heartwarming tribute. While another particularly touching and warm moment is the You Are Beautiful/True Colours performance in the second act of the show that serves as a reminder to everyone, but particularly the LGBTQ+ members of the audience, that they are loved.

Unlike a traditional drag show, in which the drag personas are personal to each performer, Queenz acts more like a musical in which a performer steps into a role that has been pre-written and pre-determined for them, and has possibly been performed by others before them. Much like a musical production, therefore, the choreography and script are well-rehearsed, the brilliant live vocals are showcased particularly in soaring solos, and there are plenty of polished group numbers. The costuming too is colourful and fabulous with enough sequins to rival the 60s, some powerful 80s shoulder pads, neon light-up elements, flares, and fringed costumes that dance with the performers.
With a great selection of songs performed by incredible voices, Queenz: Drag Me to the Disco is a show that offers a perfect balance of comedy, warm moments, and joyful disco dancing.
While the show was only at the Wolverhampton Grand for one night, Queenz: Drag Me to the Disco is a touring production that is visiting several more venues across the West Midlands including: Coventry Belgrade, Birmingham Alexandra, Stoke Victoria Hall, Nottingham Playhouse and Loughborough Town Hall. What's more, Queenz will not only be back at The Grand in 2026, but they are also performing at Wolverhampton Pride this year, on the 7th June, with the announcement that Wolverhampton Grand will be the event's headline sponsor, bringing Queenz back to the city.
Tim Colegate, Director of Productions at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre said, “Wolverhampton Grand Theatre prides itself on being a venue, deeply rooted within the community and we are delighted to support this event. Thousands of people from the LGBT+ community visit us every year and this is our way to give back. We are also supporting the Pride co-operative to reach as many people as possible with this event to make it bigger and better than ever”
