An exhibition of protest photography by I Am Royal Art is set to open in Coventry during Pride month. The exhibition, Human Focus, will run from 20th June until 29th July at LTB showrooms, Priory Visitor Centre (PVC); a community arts hub. An official opening will take place on 21st June from 2.30pm, with live music from 5pm.
The collection of images from documentary photographer, I Am Royal Art, reveal “the human faces behind protest through moments captured at Pride, anti-war, and pro-Palestinian demonstrations across the UK,” explains the artist behind the photography.
“It speaks to a shared truth: we all seek freedom, safety, and respect and when individuals come together, they form movements; when movements unite, they create change.
“Through intimate black-and-white photographs, the work draws attention to those often-overlooked people whose voices are seen but not always truly heard, and whose rights are questioned or ignored. In response. It leaves us with a simple but urgent question: who gets to be seen as human, and who is still fighting for that recognition?”

The photos featured in the exhibition include those taken at: Birmingham Pride (2017-2026), Coventry Trans Pride (2025), The People's Assembly March, 32nd National March for Palestine, London & Manchester (2022), London (2025), Coventry Pride (2024-2025), Bristol Trans Pride (2026), and London Pride (2025).
Speaking to Midlands Rainbow, I Am Royal Art said: “As a working-class queer photographer I feel my art must be used to highlight groups that are marginalised and often under-represented.”
“The aim of this exhibition is to show the human side of protest and how we all want the same things and working together makes us stronger.”
