Police issue update on Kent Street incident

West Midlands Police have issued a statement regarding an incident on Kent Street, Birmingham in the heart of the Gay Village, in the early hours of Saturday (28th Feb) morning. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We were called to Kent Street at around 4.30am yesterday (Sat) following reports that a man had been stabbed. A second man was also assaulted.

“A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of wounding. He was released on police bail with strict conditions.”
Many people visiting the Gay Village on Saturday, particularly those attending the newly-launched Birmingham Queer Market at The Village Inn and Nightingale Club, situated on Kent Street, will have noticed police tape blocking off the road, along with police presence.
West Midlands Police stated: “We continue to carry out CCTV enquiries and have spoken to a number of witnesses.
“Patrols have been stepped up in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
