‘Queer Voices’ a new LGBTQ+ poetry open mic is set to launch in Worcester next week. Taking place on the fourth Thursday of each month, starting from Thursday 24th July 2025, the event is an open mic poetry and spoken word night celebrating LGBTQ+ creativity, expression, and community.

A press release from Queer Voices explains: “This exciting new event promises a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering environment for LGBTQ+ and transgender voices of all ages and abilities. From seasoned poets to first-time performers, Queer Voices invites all to share their stories, passions, and truths.”

“Worcester is full of queer poets,” adds Melissa Poulton, Founder of Queer Voices. “Queer Voices will be a safe space where those from the LGBTQ+ and transgender communities can feel safe to express themselves and perform their words in a safe and supportive environment. Although queer people will be prioritised, Queer Voices is suitable for all ages and abilities. Boston Tea Party is thrilled to be hosting this new spoken word and poetry night.”

The inaugural Queer Voices open mic will take place at Worcester’s Boston Tea Party, a queer-friendly space which supports the event. The event begins from 7pm on Thursday 24th July, and is open to the public. Those interested in performing are encouraged to email queervoicesworcester@gmail.com to request a slot.
