Joe Lycett’s Harry Styles art t-shirt raises money for Greenpeace

A t-shirt featuring artwork of Harry Styles, created by Joe Lycett, is being sold to raise money for Greenpeace. All proceeds from the exclusive t-shirts featuring the artwork will support the charity Greenpeace’s legal fund, as they are currently being sued by Shell for £1.7m in ‘damages’, following a peaceful protest at one of their oil platforms.

Lycett has partnered with Greenpeace to give them rights to the artwork to be printed on exclusive t-shirts and tote bags that can be purchased online now. In a post from Lycett, featuring photos of celebrities wearing the t-shirt, he revealed that tens of thousands of pounds have already been raised from day one.

The original Harry Styles painting, which replaced the music artist’s head with an egg, was bought from Joe Lycett by Harry Styles himself for ‘£6 and a Kit Kat Chunky peanut butter’. Lycett posted a video in which he showed receipt of the £6 but not a Kit Kat chunky in sight. Lycett claimed that he would be suing Styles for the Kit Kat Chunky but, of course, those who have followed Joe Lycett’s career, knew there would be more to come.

The comedian, who is well known for using clever stunts and humour to get a message across, later revealed that he would not be suing Harry Styles but that he would be supporting Greenpeace which is currently being sued by the British multinational oil and gas company, Shell plc.

A post from Greenpeace explained: “[Joe Lycett] is NOT suing Harry Styles, but Shell IS suing Greenpeace for the equivalent of millions of KitKat Chunkys. Pretty ironic that Shell is suing us for damages when they’re the ones destroying the planet. They should be coughing up damages to all of us! BIG thank you to Joe for supporting our Stop Shell appeal - you can get one of his glorious t shirts on our page now!”
