Dragged to the Musicals, a live vocals show that takes audiences to the West End with a set-list filled with show tune numbers, is heading out on tour from September. The show features a sparkling cast including, Drag Race UK stars: Divina De Campo, Veronica Green and Le Fil, singer Mimi Chanel, and Coventry’s own Queen of the Universe, Viola, who is also soon to appear on Drag Race UK series 7. Ahead of its opening, Midlands Rainbow spoke to Divina De Campo about the all-singing extravaganza that will be playing at several venues across the region.

The production is set to be “Camp, camp, camp! Hilarity and campness, live vocals and really, really, just camp.” Divina tells Midlands Rainbow.

“It's going to be really fun. Loads of songs that you know from the shows, loads and loads of show tunes that you know and you love, all done with a bit of a drag twist.”

She adds that the performers on the line-up bring together a great mix of modern new-school and old-school drag.

“There's going to be that kind of old school [style]; there's going to be a gimmick in lots of the numbers that makes you laugh. And then new school in that [it’s going to be] to be fierce and fabulous and gorgeous and glamorous.

“[All] the girls who are on the tour are fantastic singers. You know, I've really got my work cut out to keep up with everybody.

"We’ve got Le Fil, we've got Viola, who, if you don't know, she did Queen of the universe, and she is just sensational. And then Mimi Chanel, who is this leggy Glamazon from London. I did a show with her last year, and she's fabulous; really, really gorgeous. So, a really good mix of different queens, and everybody is phenomenally talented. So, it's going to be a real whammy of a show. Yeah, it's going to be great fun. No politics, all joy. All joy for dragged to the musicals.”

Dragged to the Musicals plays at Lincoln’s New Theatre Royal (19th Sept), The Swan Theatre Worcester (25th Sept), The Albany Theatre Coventry (3rd Oct), Leicester’s De Montfort Hall (7th Oct), Wolverhampton Grand (11th Oct), The Core Theatre Solihull (16th Oct), The Lichfield Garrick Theatre (25th Oct), as well as other venues across the UK.
