The event will feature a special introduction from drag performer and cabaret artist, Fatt Butcher, before Edgbaston’s picturesque Greenfield Crescent is transformed into Birmingham’s very own yellow brick road for an outdoor screening of The Wizard of Oz, which has long been claimed as a queer classic.

The event takes place on Saturday 19th July from 8pm, and the film itself is due to screen from around 9.30pm (depending on sunset time and light levels). Prior to the film, there will be music, and audience members will have a chance to enjoy food and drink from local partners including Chapter, Loki Wines, and Smoke + Ash. The screening will take place regardless of weather, so those attending are advised to plan accordingly.

The festival also features screenings of other queer/ queer-adjacent film including: Labyrinth, starring David Bowie, at Dudley Castle on Saturday 2nd August, Wicked at Rowheath Pavilion on Friday 8th August, Lost Boys at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Saturday 16th August, as well as many other titles.

Tickets can be booked online on Flatpack Festival’s Website: https://flatpackfestival.org.uk/
