Eff-able, “a spicy anthology of queer crip poetry”, will celebrate its publication with an event held in Birmingham during Disability Pride Month. The collection of writing published by Fourteen Poems, a London-based poetry publisher, spotlighting LGBTQ+ poets, features writers from the Midlands including: contributors Katie (Tom) Walters, Madailín Burnhope, Scarlett Ward, and eff-able mentor Sallyanne Rock, all of whom will deliver live readings as part of the event.

The launch, which will be held at Sidewalk Bar from 7pm on Tuesday 15th July, combines poetry reading with cabaret. Hosted by bisexual, drag king Crip Ladywood, eff-able Brum will also feature performances from Alanna Boden and Lola Thorne, as well as an introduction from co-creators, George Parker and JP Seabright. There will, of course, also be an opportunity to buy your own copy of eff-able.

“Whether looking at long term connections or kink, or relishing the flush of desire and the simple joy of touch, these poems rejoice in love, sex, and bodies, shining a light on a much-marginalised part of the LGBTQ+ community.

“With poetry that is bold, tender, boundary-pushing and eye-opening, eff-able blows stereotypes apart by focusing on all aspects of the erotic and sensual bodily experience for queer disabled people.”

The Birmingham event is part of the ‘This is Not a Side Show’ book tour, which includes the launch in London and an online book launch on Sunday 13th July. Tickets for the events are pay what you can, with low income pricing available. Booking and further information including full details of accessibility can be found online.
