Supported by the University of Birmingham, the inaugural ‘Autumn is Queer’ in Coventry is a campaign of joyful programmed events and activities celebrating the resilience and creativity of the LGBTQ+ community. Taking part in Coventry and across the wider West Midlands region, the events range from performances, music and stand-up comedy to walks, workshops, and craft fairs.

The initiative which was conceived by Paul O’Donnell, Creative Director of Extraordinary Us and a member of the University of Birmingham is a collaboration involving regional partners including Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Sampad Arts, Birmingham LGBT, Warwick Arts Centre, Unity in Coventry, Coventry Pride and many others.
Running from 22nd September throughout the autumn until 30th November, ‘Autumn is Queer’ describes itself as “a recalibration for a world that needs more joy, more connection, and more unapologetic authenticity.
“Because Autumn itself is queer — transitional, dramatic, camp, unapologetic, and bursting with colour (helloooooo Halloween!).”
Paul O’Donnell adds: “Although deeply rooted in queer culture, Autumn Is Queer is for everyone who values authenticity, community, and the right to live unapologetically. With creativity, humour, and heart, it invites everyone to blossom together.”
