Birmingham Pride’s Director of People, Char Bailey, has received an award from We Create Space for her Community and Grassroots Activism. Char is a certified NLP practitioner and performance coach, facilitating workshops in schools and businesses. She is also passionate about mental health and autism advocacy, sharing her experiences as a queer, autistic woman of colour, and the barriers and challenges she's overcome. Char, alongside Birmingham Pride’s Eva Echo is among some of the LGBTQ+ activists celebrated in We Creat Space’s 2025 Awards.

In a post on LinkedIn, Char Bailey said: “I’m incredibly honoured to have received a We Create Space Award for Community and Grassroots Activism.
“This recognition means the world to me — not just personally, but as a reminder of the power of community, connection, and collective care. Grassroots work often happens behind the scenes, driven by love, resilience, and a deep desire for change. To have that work seen and celebrated is truly humbling.
“Thank you to the We Create Space team for creating platforms that uplift underrepresented voices and for recognising the importance of activism at the ground level. I also want to thank every single person and community I’ve worked with and learned from — you are the reason I do this.
“This award is not just mine; it belongs to everyone pushing for equity, inclusion, and liberation. Here’s to continuing the work, building together, and holding space for one another.”
